show moreThey are an entertainment machine, spreading good vibes through music, and now it’s Brisbane and the Gold Coast’s turn to experience a bit of the magic.
Dubbed “the closest to punk the blues will ever get”, 19-Twenty defy the parameters of music by their unique blending of genres that puts them in a sonic league all of their own.
With a show at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse on June 17 before setting sail on the Brisbane River Blues Cruise on June 18, guitarist/singer Kane Dennelly sat down with HEAVY to give us an insight into this exciting three piece outfit.
"We haven't really played up that way very often,” he began. “We played when it was all flooded so we had a few gigs cancelled and this is sort of a carry on from that. Off the back of Bluesfest we're super excited to be playing Mo's in their warehouse space and it's killer there. Most people that go there love it. And then we thought let's get a bit rowdy on a boat on the river as well! It's a 1 - 4 gig, so it's a daytime session, which is gonna be amazing. Day drunk, yes please (laughs)."
In the full interview, Kane talks us through what to expect, their recent performance at Byron Bay Blues Festival, their mixing of genres and why it works, dealing with purists who think such genres should not mix, their upcoming collaboration with Aloe Blacc, a typical 19-Twenty live show and more.
