show moreIn this podcast, we discuss Christian Zübert's 2025 German action thriller “Exterritorial”, starring Jeanne Goursaud and Dougray Scott.
While praising the film's technical aspects, particularly its action sequences and a single-take shot, we criticize its derivative plot and unremarkable performances.
Ultimately, we suggest that "Exterritorial" is a technically competent genre film that struggles to rise above mediocrity due to its lack of originality and storytelling weaknesses, though it represents a step forward for German cinema in the action genre.
Plot:
"Exterritorial" is a gripping German action-thriller. A former soldier (Jeanne Goursaud) searches for her son who mysteriously vanishes inside a U.S. consulate. Defying authorities, she illegally stays on the premises, uncovering a dangerous conspiracy.
With Dougray Scott as a suspicious consulate official, the film delivers intense action, fluid visuals, and a tense battle of wits in a high-stakes mystery.
