Storytelling as an Act of Liberation
Guests: Ms. Emma Rodgers and Ms. Akwete Tyehimba
Virginia Hamilton said that storytelling was the first opportunity for black folks to represent themselves as anything other than property. Through storytelling, questions are answered, history is conveyed, lifelong lessons are taught and learned, and the future is created. Storytelling (re)connects us with ourselves, our communities, and our power in the pursuit of collective liberation. We will discuss how storytelling can lead to liberation.
