After Hattie McDaniel won an Academy Award in 1940 for her role in Gone with the Wind, it would be another 50 years before another African American woman, Whoopie Golberg in Ghost, would snatch an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

And then it wouldn’t be until 2001 that a black woman, Halle Berry in Monster’s Ball, would win Best Actress.

But what if you could go back in time and rewrite Hollywood’s history to be more black, queer and feminist? In the new Netflix series “Hollywood,” producer Ryan Murphy does just that and proves that “Movies don’t just show us how the world is, they show us how the world can be.

Today comedian Matt Brown joins us to talk about about the magical revisionism of Murphy’s series Hollywood, which showcases vintage Hollywood in all its gay glamour and sexy shenanigans.
