Earlier this month, Vinesh Phogat joined the Congress party and is contesting the Haryana elections from Julana constituency, shortly after her disqualification from the Paris Olympics 50-kg gold medal bout for being 100 grams overweight. Phogat, a key figure in protests against BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accused of sexually harassing female wrestlers, is now campaigning in Julana with days left before the elections.
