BREW FROM THE PEW: Tonight we are really excited to have Robert “Bobby” Harl Jr. live and in studio (at 7pm sharp) for Episode XXIV of the Galactic Coast Power Hour. Harl is the president, founder and head of brewery operations at Back Pew Brewing, the brewery behind the popular “Saints & Sinners” line of beers and the only brewery we know of located in a former church where bustling machinery and aromas of beer have replaced the sounds of songs, prayers and sermons. We really look forward to asking Harl how someone graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in engineering science (Trinity University), a masters of business administration and doctorate in chemical & bimolecular engineering (both from Vanderbilt University) ended up brewing German-style beers in an old Texas church. We will also discuss what is new at Back Pew and will likely touch on current TABC laws and the efforts to change them. In addition to putting our guest to the test with our signature, on-topic, super-special audio quiz, we have a special taste test quiz for Harl, who up to now has remained strong when other breweries have caved to the pressure from the current Haze Craze (NEIPA style) that has invaded the “Juiceton,” we mean “Houston,” brewery scene.
