Episode LXIII (63): BRINGING UNITY THRU MUSIC - We had so much fun with our special Singer/Songwriter/Storyteller Showcase series in September that we are stretching it into October. And joining us live and in studio tonight to keep the music playing and positive vibes flowing will be Joe Serrato, Ryan ‘Rasta’ Mendoza, Hector Gomez Jr. and Seth Vining. Together these four talented musicians and self-described fans of brew make up the popular Reggae/Fusion/Rock group Ojos Rojos. Serrato is also well known as the front man for the celebrated experimental reggae/dub/rock band Indaskies, which recently returned from an East Coast tour, while Mendoza also fronts the multiple-award winning (including Houston Reggae Band of the Year) Reggae/Rock band The High Mile and newer group Beachside Vibes. We look forward to a conversation about all four bands, influences, songwriting, performing, collaborations, touring, recording, promoting and much more. We will make sure there is plenty of beer while our special guests promise to provide the groove and beat. It should be a blast!! If time allows, we will put our guests to the test with our world-famous, on-topic audio quiz and tease some of what is on tap this weekend in beer, music and events thanks to our friends at The SCENE Magazine. Three featured live shows this upcoming weekend of note all take place on Saturday (October 5) night including international recording artist and SCENE cover veteran Paul Wall taking the stage just down the street from our studio at Scout Bar, the high recommended Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks Tribute Band Nightbird rocking Kemah’s T-bone Tom’s and fun party band Wake Zone performing at the Railean Distillery & Buccaneer Bar Craft Spirits Tasting Room.
