Génesis 11: Usa tu fuerza de voluntad para el bien

Este capítulo está dividido en dos temas: primero, la torre de Babel; y segundo, la genealogía de Sem que hace la introducción a la vida de Abraham. Vamos a leer hoy la parte de la torre de Babel pero no olvides leer todo el capítulo.

Génesis 11:1‭-‬9 RVA2015:
Toda la tierra tenía un solo idioma y las mismas palabras. Pero aconteció que al emigrar del oriente, encontraron una llanura en la tierra de Sinar y se establecieron allí. Entonces se dijeron unos a otros: “Vengan, hagamos adobes y quemémoslos con fuego”. Así empezaron a usar ladrillo en lugar de piedra, y brea en lugar de mortero. Y dijeron: “Vengan, edifiquémonos una ciudad y una torre cuya cúspide llegue al cielo. Hagámonos un nombre, no sea que nos dispersemos sobre la faz de toda la tierra”. El SEÑOR descendió para ver la ciudad y la torre que edificaban los hombres. Entonces dijo el SEÑOR: “He aquí que este pueblo está unido, y todos hablan el mismo idioma. Esto es lo que han comenzado a hacer, y ahora nada les impedirá hacer lo que se proponen. Vamos, pues, descendamos y confundamos allí su lenguaje, para que nadie entienda lo que dice su compañero”. Así los dispersó el SEÑOR de allí sobre la faz de toda la tierra, y dejaron de edificar la ciudad. Por tanto, el nombre de dicha ciudad fue Babel, porque el SEÑOR confundió allí el lenguaje de toda la tierra, y desde allí los dispersó sobre la faz de toda la tierra.


Este pasaje bíblico es muy famoso porque nos muestra que antes todo el mundo estaba unido, a pesar de que eran de diferentes familias y clanes que descendían de diferentes padres; a ellos los unía un solo idioma.
Pero después se unieron con un pensamiento erróneo y era que, por primera vez, los seres humanos se pusieron de acuerdo para no depender de Dios. Ellos se enfocaron en protegerse a sí mismos de otro evento catastrófico como el diluvio. Sus pensamientos estaban tan equivocados que ellos pensaron que la única forma de protegerse era construyendo una torre altísima, lo que hoy en día llamamos rascacielos.
Esta es una historia donde se ve la ignorancia por la forma de pensar tan humana y superficial, por la bajeza en la que ellos han caído. Tal vez olvidaron que el diluvio cubrió hasta la montaña más alta que había en la tierra.
Lo impresionante de esta historia es que ellos comenzaron a construir esta torre, y cuando Dios analizó lo que estaban haciendo, Él les dijo a sus seres celestiales que Él iba a hacer algo para trastornar el medio de comunicarse entre ellos porque Él miró en el corazón de ellos que estaban totalmente decididos a realizar esta obra, que nada los detendría. Dios mezcló diferentes lenguajes entre ellos y ya no podían comunicarse.

Pienso que la torre de Babel se convertiría en un símbolo de desafío en contra de Dios y de rebeldía ante su voluntad. Era señal de que el ser humano estaba dando la espalda a Dios y pensaban que podían burlarse de Él ignorando sus preceptos, sus mandamientos y sus juicios. Por eso el señor confundió sus lenguas y los esparció por todo el mundo y la obra terminó allí.
La lección positiva que podemos aprender aquí es que ¡el ser humano tiene una fuerza de voluntad poderosísima! Esta fuerza de voluntad que se refleja en las virtudes del hombre como la perseverancia, paciencia y dominio propio, son cualidades de Dios en nosotros, pues somos creados a imagen del Dios viviente. Aquí vemos que el ser humano la usó para lo malo para alejarse de Dios.
Esta lección nos enseña a que canalicemos la voluntad de forma saludable y beneficiosa, como una herramienta para que nos acerquemos más al Señor con voluntad firme y decisiva, y no alejarnos de Él.
Y que en cualquier plan y meta que tomemos para alcanzar, recordemos que tenemos que considerar qué clase de decisión vamos a tomar y sus consecuencias. Lo que propongamos, lo vamos a lograr pero debemos primero analizar cuál será el resultado, sí es para agradar a Dios o para agradar nuestros propios deseos y pensamientos.
Espero que no seas como los de la torre de Babel, que estés buscando confiar en tus propias fuerzas y sabiduría; más bien que seas como David que propuso en su corazón agradar a Dios, él quiso construir un templo al Dios viviente y preparó todo para que fuera construido por medio de su hijo Salomón.

Genesis 11: Use Your Willpower For Good
This chapter is divided into two themes: first, the tower of Babel; and second, the genealogy of Shem which introduces the life of Abraham. We are going to read today the part of the tower of Babel but don't forget to read the whole chapter.

Genesis 11:1-9 NLT:
At one time all the people of the world spoke the same language and used the same words. As the people migrated to the east, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there. They began saying to each other, “Let’s make bricks and harden them with fire.” (In this region bricks were used instead of stone, and tar was used for mortar.) Then they said, “Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.” But the Lord came down to look at the city and the tower the people were building. “Look!” he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them! Come, let’s go down and confuse the people with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.” In that way, the Lord scattered them all over the world, and they stopped building the city. That is why the city was called Babel, because that is where the Lord confused the people with different languages. In this way he scattered them all over the world.


This biblical passage is very famous because it shows us that before the whole world was united, even though they were from different families and clans that descended from different parents; they were united by a single language.
But later they came together with a mistaken thought and that was that, for the first time, human beings agreed not to depend on God. They focused on protecting themselves from another catastrophic event like the flood. Their thoughts were so wrong that they thought the only way to protect themselves was to build the highest tower, what we call skyscrapers nowadays.
This is a story where ignorance is seen due to the way of thinking so human and superficial, due to the baseness in which they have fallen. Perhaps they forgot that the flood covered even the highest mountain on Earth.
The impressive thing about this story is that they began to build this tower, and when God analyzed what they were doing, He told His heavenly beings that He was going to do something to disrupt the means of communication between them because He looked into the heart of them who were totally determined to carry out this work, that nothing would stop them. God mixed different languages ​​between them and they could no longer communicate.

I think that the tower of Babel would become a symbol of defiance against God and rebellion against His will. It was a sign that the human being was turning their back on God and they thought that they could make fun of Him by ignoring His precepts, His commandments and His judgments. That is why the Lord confused their languages ​​and scattered them all over the world and the work ended there.
The positive lesson that we can learn here is that the human being has a very powerful willpower! This willpower that is reflected in the virtues of man such as perseverance, patience and self-control, are qualities of God in us, since we are created in the image of the living God. Here we see that the human being used it for evil to get away from God.
This lesson teaches us to channel the will in a healthy and beneficial way, as a tool for us to get closer to the Lord with a firm and decisive will, and not move away from Him.
And that in any plan and goal that we take to reach, let's remember that we have to consider what kind of decision we are going to make and its consequences. What we propose, we will achieve but we must first analyze what the result will be, if it is to please God or to please our own desires and thoughts.
I hope that you are not like those from the tower of Babel, that you are seeking to rely on your own strength and wisdom; rather that you be like David who purposed in his heart to please God, he wanted to build a temple to the living God and prepared everything to be built through his son Solomon.
