Genesis 28 follows Jacob as he flees from his brother Esau after deceiving Isaac for the blessing. On his journey to Haran, Jacob has a profound dream at Bethel where he sees a ladder reaching to heaven with angels ascending and descending. God reaffirms the promise made to Abraham, blessing Jacob with land, numerous descendants, and His protection. Jacob awakens, awestruck, anoints a stone as a pillar, and vows to make the Lord his God if He keeps him safe on his journey."
