Genesis Chapter 50 concludes the book of Genesis with the death and burial of Jacob, followed by Joseph's reassurance to his brothers and his eventual death. After Jacob dies in Egypt, Joseph has him embalmed and leads a large entourage to bury him in Canaan as per his wishes, in the cave of Machpelah. After the burial, fearing retribution now that their father is gone, Joseph’s brothers seek forgiveness for past wrongs, offering themselves as servants. Joseph, moved by their plea, reassures them that he holds no grudge, affirming his protective role over them and their families, attributing their actions to divine providence. Years later, Joseph, at 110, dies after charging his brothers to carry his bones back to Canaan when God leads them out of Egypt. He is embalmed and placed in a coffin in Egypt.
