Description
Interviewing Steel Panther is not for the faint-hearted. The band's members have always lived to the beat of their own drum, including answering their own questions while paying little regard...
show moreThis time I spoke with bass playing sex God Lexxi Foxx who provided yet more moments of measured chaos.
"We've got time off right now so I can get my facelift and my highlights done and things like that", he offered, "and MichaelĀ (Starr) can do his thing and Satchel's gonna write more songs for the next record, but, in the meantime, have you heard Heavy Metal Rules yet by any chance? It is my favourite record and I don't know how Satchel keeps doing it. He writes songs about what we're doing and I'm not bragging but our first video 'All I Wanna Do Is Fuck (Myself Tonight)' is about me and I'm not joking. Satchel was really going Lexxi, if you're gonna fucken write a song - and we thought about doing this in a kids version - but we all do our own songs but here's the thing. We can't write songs like Satchel so... we thought about doing... remember what Kiss did back in the 70's? They put out an individual album each, but Stix goes wait a second. Let's not use Lexxi's song just for Lexxi. Let's put it on this new records Heavy Metal Rules and that's exactly what we do and I think the song is amazing".
In the full interview Lexxi talks Australian slang with us, the album in more detail, opening track 'Zebraman', the songwriting process, where the inspiration comes from for new music, what they would be doing if they weren't in Steel Panther, gives a song for each member, runs through his bandmates best and worst traits, how much longer Steel Panther can keep doing what they do, coming to Australia and more.
