Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.
3 John 1:2
The LORD your God is the Healing God. It is part of his character and attributes. Look what He says in Exodus 15:26 – I AM THE LORD Who heals you.
You serve a God who wants to heal!
He Himself is the GREAT PHYSICIAN!
2390 iáomai (a primitive verb, NAS dictionary) – healing, particularly as supernatural and bringing attention to the Lord Himself as the Great Physician (cf. Is 53:4,5).
One of the the first instances we find of GREAT Physician is when Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children; for the LORD had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife. Genesis 20:17-18
Healing is rooted in God’s character:
Ex. 15:26, “For I am the Lord who heals you” (NKJV).
He is the Healer of nations, as well as our bodies:
2 Chronicles. 7:14, “… I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
He is the Healer of your hearts, as well as our bodies: Ps. 147:3, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Exodus 15:26 – I AM THE LORD Who heals you is the LORD CHRIST, and your healing is rooted in His suffering on the cross.
As the prophet Isaiah said in Isaiah 53:4-5 – Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. [Matt. 8:17.] But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.”
Isaiah 53:4-5
Healing is available because of Christ’s compassion : Matthew 14:14, “And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.”
When He went ashore and saw a great throng of people, He had compassion (pity and deep sympathy) for them and cured their sick. Matthew 14:14
He is the Healer who empowers you to do the same things He did
in all four Gospels in John 14:12 He says:
I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father. John 14:12
Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you. Luke 10:19
And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.
Mark 16:17-18
AND JESUS summoned to Him His twelve disciples and gave them power and authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out, and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of weakness and infirmity.”
Matthew 10:1
He is the Healer Who is available through prayer, faith and the laying on of hands: James 5:14-15, “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.”
He is the Healer Who produces new believers: John 4:53, “So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, ‘Your son lives.’ And he himself believed, and his whole household.”
God has used—and always will use—the demonstration of His kingdom, His rule and reign, to draw unbelievers into His family: “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people” (Matt. 4:23).
