There have been calls on the Department of Agriculture to introduce a fodder scheme to support farmers struggling to buy fodder and feed to last the winter.

However, despite a fodder action group meeting between senior department and teagasc officials and farm organisations in Sligo on Monday, there has been no indication that a scheme will be introduced before Christmas.

Our correspondent Adam Woods was at an ICSA fodder crisis meeting in Cavan on Tuesday and heard from farmers, but started by asking ICSA secretary Eddie Punch what the feeling was from farmers at the meeting.
