The Lone Ranger #928, "Indian's Beef," tensions mount between white settlers and Native Americans when Red Eagle's tribe prepares for war. The Lone Ranger arrives in the struggling town of Red Bank, where storekeeper Lempike and Indian agent Big Duffy blame the tribe for the railroad's decision to halt construction. The townspeople stand to lose everything they've invested, convinced the threat of Indian attacks has scared away progress. When the masked rider learns of the brewing conflict, he prevents Tonto from riding into the hostile town and instead heads directly to Red Eagle's village.
Confronting the chief amid war dances and preparations for battle, the Lone Ranger discovers the truth behind the uprising. Red Eagle reveals that the government has repeatedly broken its treaty by providing only half the promised beef rations meant to replace the vanishing buffalo herds. The masked man convinces the chief to hold off the warpath until the next cattle delivery, promising to investigate the shortage. With lives hanging in the balance and Red Eagle warning he cannot restrain his warriors much longer, the Lone Ranger must uncover who is responsible for the missing beef before open warfare erupts between the two peoples.
