show moreMy name is Adrianna Frizzell. As you can probably tell from the cover picture, I was an addict. I say ‘was’ because God set me free and broke the stronghold addiction had on my life. I was on fentanyl and meth for ten years. I honestly never thought I would get sober. So getting in trouble and piling up a record never mattered to me because I thought being an addict would always be my state of existence. I went to jail 3 months before I had my baby, still addicted and hopeless. No choice but to get sober cold turkey. But that’s when it happened for me, God set me free while I was locked up in a cage. The irony of that. I am now 2 years and 4 months sober and I have the most precious, kindest, strong willed little boy. His name is Jace Marcellus. Jace means “to heal; salvation” and Marcellus means “young warrior.” And that’s what he has been for me, a healing promise that God gave me when I chose to remain sober and never look back. But atlas, I am still a convicted felon and the job I have now pays $12 an hour. This is the 4th job after the first 3 hired me only to let me go once the background check came back. I am so blessed and thankful for this job. I know that the more sober time I acquire and over the years my record will be eligible for expungement. However right now I am having to find rides to and from work because I have no license due to court fines which exceed $7000. I have been paying on them but I also pay rent, buy groceries, diapers, and anything my baby absolutely needs. Once my fines are finally paid, then I can work on actually saving for a car to be able to drive to work and actually take my toddler to the park…it’s the little things I look forward to that may seem like everyday life to someone else. Two of my charges are driving related which means until they are paid I cannot get my license reinstated and those two are about $4700 of the $7000 total I owe. I am currently paying 25 dollars a week on my fines because that’s all I can afford. If anyone would be moved to help a recovering addict just trying to be a better parent, caretaker, and working mom I would be eternally grateful. God is going to make a way where there is no way because that’s what he does, but I know his children understand suffering and persecution. We all make mistakes, and we all deserve a REAL second chance to be better for ourselves and our children. Feel free to contact me for any verification or proof of documentation.
Thank you so much if all you can do is just simply read this, people need to know that we do recover! I will be going to the court house weekly and posting receipts of fines paid.
