Jon Secada dominated the pop music charts in the early 90s, releasing hits like Just Another Day and Angel, and winning multiple GRAMMY Awards. With a career spanning over two decades, Jon Secada has sold twenty million albums, starred on Broadway, collaborated with some of the biggest artists in the music industry including Gloria Estefan, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Luciano Pavarotti, and Frank Sinatra, and has had numerous hits in English and Spanish, making him one of the first bilingual artists to have international crossover success, paving the way for other artists who went on to do the same.

In his new memoir, A New Day, he reflects on his life and music career. A Cuban refugee, Jon understood as a young person that life is about starting anew and embracing opportunities. Having emigrated to Spain with his parents as a young child, Secada knew his parents looked solidly towards the future even while they missed their Cuban past. He watched them struggle to make ends meet, adjusting their plans if an opportunity presented itself, moving from Spain to Costa Rica and eventually saving enough money to get themselves to the United States. As a result, Secada learned how to shape his own destiny. This outlook has always kept him grounded while taking courageous leaps toward success. In his debut book, Jon shares the lessons he learned that made him the person he is today.

Join Jon Secada on October 8th as he shares:

•How his family’s escape from Cuba during the Castro regime taught him life lessons about starting over, making the most of opportunities, and building confidence
•His first musical influences from Cuba and Spain, as well as American pop music, and his desire to become a music educator
•His experience on the front lines as a performer, writer, and producer as the Latin explosion in music in the US heavily influenced the American pop music scene in the mid-1980s and 1990s, and the life-changing opportunity to work with Emilio and Gloria Estefan
•His work with other musicians, including writing “She’s All I Ever Had” and letting Ricky Martin record it—which became a megahit
•His experiences on Broadway and in the television industry

In his honest and humble words, Secada shares the behind-the scenes story of his rise to worldwide stardom and the challenges he faced both in the music industry and his personal life. His moving message reaffirms that wisdom and strength come from constantly reinventing oneself and finding what you’re made of through doubt and hardships, growing from adversity, and having faith in a new day.
