Today I spoke with Justine Ven der Leun, host of BELIEVE HER, a new podcast by Lemonada Media.

BELIEVE HER is not a whodunnit. This is a complicated look at what happens when a woman who has endured abuse at the hands of her partner, shoots and kills him. Nikki Addimando went from being viewed as a victim to a cold blooded killer when she shot and killed her partner, Chris Grover, in 2017.

Today’s conversation explores the many complex issues at the heart of this “upside down” true crime story; believing victims, women in prison, domestic abuse, trauma, and whether it’s bad luck or a flawed system that lands people in prison.
