In this episode of Walk In Victory | Sunday Service we welcome James Early, host of The Bible Speaks to You Podcast. We dive into the nitty-gritty of the importance of grammar and a tiny little detail most Bible translations miss that completely change the meaning of this favorite verse.
We explore the original Greek, your is 2nd person plural. Paul is talking to the whole Christian Church at Corinth. He is not talking to just one person. So when he uses the phrase "your body, he means the collective body of the church. If he meant that each or our material bodies is a temple of the Holy Spirit, he would have said, your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, implying that each one of us is a temple. In the original Greek it is clear he did not mean that we are each a temple, but that collectively we are.
