Levítico 11: Restauración de pureza.

Levítico 11: 46-47:
Estas son las instrucciones acerca de los animales terrestres, de las aves, de todos los animales acuáticos y de todos los animales que se desplazan sobre la tierra; para diferenciar entre lo inmundo y lo limpio, entre los animales que se pueden comer y los animales que no se pueden comer.

Vamos a comenzar lo que denominamos la tercera parte de Levítico, que corresponde desde el capítulo 11 al 16. Estos capítulos explican la definición de pureza e impureza, y también cuales son los pasos a seguir para recuperar la pureza de forma legal, de acuerdo a la ley.

Me produce mucha curiosidad mirar cómo estaba establecido en la ley de Moisés de forma específica las clases de animales que se podían comer y cuáles no. También cómo un cadáver de un animal podía hacer impura a una persona o un objeto.
Lo importante es mirar que, a pesar de que las leyes eran muy estrictas, también estaba el camino para que la persona pudiera recuperar su pureza; usualmente ya era puro al otro día después de lavar su ropa y esperar hasta la noche. Y no solamente una persona sino también los objetos.
Por medio de estas leyes de pureza, el pueblo de Israel debía entender que ellos tenían que ser santos como Dios es santo. Ellos debían comprender cómo Dios pedía que su pueblo se mantuviera en santidad para que su presencia siempre los acompañara.

Hoy en día estas leyes no se aplican en la iglesia del Señor; pues no estamos bajo la ley de Moisés sino bajo la gracia y ley de Cristo.
Lo que sí debemos hacer como creyentes es vivir en santidad, separados de lo malo.
Imagínate que tú eres judío bajo la ley y, de repente, un animal muerto como una lagartija cayó sobre ti o sin darte cuenta te sentaste sobre él; luego miras el cadáver y te das cuenta que por tocarlo caíste en inmundicia. Entonces, debes lavar tus ropas y esperar hasta la noche. Tan pronto llegaban las 6 de la tarde, tu condición de inmundo se había quitado y eres considerado puro.
De la misma manera, muchas veces conocemos las cosas que producen inmundicia y tratamos de guardarnos para Dios. Sabemos que acciones como el adulterio, la fornicación, el engaño y otras cosas más no son del agrado de Dios y son pecados.
A veces podríamos hacer o decir algo que hiera a alguien; sin darnos cuenta ofendemos a Dios o a las personas con nuestras acciones. Cuando el problema sale a la luz y miramos el efecto de nuestras acciones, tenemos la opción de seguir en esas malas acciones y tratar de justificarlas, o reconocer que realmente hicimos algo indebido inconscientemente y buscar la manera para arreglar la situación.
Eso es lo hermoso de tener al Señor. Él es el agua pura donde podemos lavar las vestiduras por nuestras malas acciones. Dios nos habla, nos corrige y nos enseña por medio de Su Palabra para que entendamos nuestros errores y aprendamos a hacer lo correcto. Así como el judío que descubrió que una lagartija muerta lo hizo impuro y puso de su parte para purificarse, nosotros también podemos poner de nuestra parte para comenzar a corregir nuestras actitudes y forma de vivir para ser puros.
El apóstol Pablo nos enseña en Efesios 5:25-27: “Esposos, amen a sus esposas así como también Cristo amó a la iglesia y se entregó a sí mismo por ella, a fin de santificarla, habiéndola purificado en el lavamiento del agua con la palabra, para presentársela a sí mismo una iglesia gloriosa que no tenga mancha ni arruga ni cosa semejante sino que sea santa y sin falta.”

Así que, no nos acerquemos a Dios sin antes evaluar si estamos tratando a los miembros de nuestro hogar con respeto, amor y paciencia; si estamos dando un buen ejemplo. Pídamosle al Señor que nos ayude a ser un mejor padre, madre, hijo, hija, hermano, hermana, un mejor jefe o empleado y compañero. Que nos quite las vendas de nuestros ojos para que nos muestre esa “lagartija” que nos hace impuros, y lavarnos con Su preciosa sangre y Su Palabra para estar puros cuando nos presentemos ante el Señor.
Anímate con estas palabras de Hebreos 10:22: “... acerquémonos con corazón sincero, en plena certidumbre de fe, purificados los corazones de mala conciencia, y lavados los cuerpos con agua pura.”

Leviticus 11: Restoration of purity.

Leviticus 11: 46-47:
‘This is the law of the animals and the birds and every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth, to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.’ ”

We are going to start what we call the third part of Leviticus, which corresponds from chapter 11 to 16. These chapters explain the definition of purity in impurity, and also what are the steps to follow to recover purity legally, according to the law.

It makes me very curious to see how the law of Moses specifically established the kinds of animals that could be eaten and which ones could not. Also how an animal carcass could make a person or an object impure.
The important thing is to see that, despite the fact that the laws were very strict, there was also a way for the person to recover their purity; he was usually pure the next day after washing his clothes and waiting until night. And not only a person but also the objects.
Through these laws of purity, the people of Israel had to understand that they had to be holy as God is holy. They had to understand how God asked His people to remain holy so that His presence would always be with them.

Today these laws do not apply in the church of the Lord; because we are not under the law of Moses but under the grace and law of Christ.
What we must do as believers is live in holiness, separated from evil.
Imagine that you are a Jew under the law and suddenly a dead animal like a lizard fell on you or you inadvertently sat on it; then you look at the corpse and you realize that by touching it you fell into impurity. So, you must wash your clothes and wait until night. As soon as 6 pm arrives, your impure condition has been removed and you are considered pure.
In the same way, many times we know the things that produce impurity and we try to save ourselves for God. We know that actions such as adultery, fornication, cheating and other things are not pleasing to God and are sins.
Sometimes we might do or say something that hurts someone; without realizing it, we offend God or people with our actions. When the problem comes to light and we look at the effect of our actions, we have the option to continue with those bad actions and try to justify them, or to recognize that we really did something wrong unconsciously and find a way to fix the situation.
That's the beauty of having the Lord. He is the pure water where we can wash our garments for our bad actions. God speaks to us, corrects us and teaches us through His Word so that we understand our mistakes and learn to do what is right. Just like the Jew who discovered that a dead lizard made him impure and did his part to purify himself, we too can do our part to begin to correct our attitudes and way of life to be pure.
The apostle Paul teaches us in Ephesians 5:25-27: “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.”

So let us not approach God without first evaluating whether we are treating the members of our household with respect, love and patience; if we are setting a good example. Let us ask the Lord to help us to be a better father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, a better boss or employee and partner. That He removes the blindfold from our eyes to show us that “lizard” that makes us impure, and wash us with His precious blood and His Word to be pure when we present ourselves before the Lord.
Take heart with these words from Hebrews 10:22: “... let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”
