Levítico 26: Recompensas, Consecuencias y Reconciliación.

Levítico 26:1-19:
1 No haréis para vosotros ídolos, ni escultura, ni os levantaréis estatua, ni pondréis en vuestra tierra piedra pintada para inclinaros a ella; porque yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios. 2 Guardad mis días de reposo, y tened en reverencia mi santuario. Yo Jehová.
3 Si anduviereis en mis decretos y guardareis mis mandamientos, y los pusiereis por obra, 4 yo daré vuestra lluvia en su tiempo, y la tierra rendirá sus productos, y el árbol del campo dará su fruto. 5 Vuestra trilla alcanzará a la vendimia, y la vendimia alcanzará a la sementera, y comeréis vuestro pan hasta saciaros, y habitaréis seguros en vuestra tierra. 6 Y yo daré paz en la tierra, y dormiréis, y no habrá quien os espante; y haré quitar de vuestra tierra las malas bestias, y la espada no pasará por vuestro país. 7 Y perseguiréis a vuestros enemigos, y caerán a espada delante de vosotros. 8 Cinco de vosotros perseguirán a ciento, y ciento de vosotros perseguirán a diez mil, y vuestros enemigos caerán a filo de espada delante de vosotros. 9 Porque yo me volveré a vosotros, y os haré crecer, y os multiplicaré, y afirmaré mi pacto con vosotros. 10 Comeréis lo añejo de mucho tiempo, y pondréis fuera lo añejo para guardar lo nuevo. 11 Y pondré mi morada en medio de vosotros, y mi alma no os abominará; 12 y andaré entre vosotros, y yo seré vuestro Dios, y vosotros seréis mi pueblo. 13 Yo Jehová vuestro Dios, que os saqué de la tierra de Egipto, para que no fueseis sus siervos, y rompí las coyundas de vuestro yugo, y os he hecho andar con el rostro erguido.
14 Pero si no me oyereis, ni hiciereis todos estos mis mandamientos, 15 y si desdeñareis mis decretos, y vuestra alma menospreciare mis estatutos, no ejecutando todos mis mandamientos, e invalidando mi pacto, 16 yo también haré con vosotros esto: enviaré sobre vosotros terror, extenuación y calentura, que consuman los ojos y atormenten el alma; y sembraréis en vano vuestra semilla, porque vuestros enemigos la comerán. 17 Pondré mi rostro contra vosotros, y seréis heridos delante de vuestros enemigos; y los que os aborrecen se enseñorearán de vosotros, y huiréis sin que haya quien os persiga. 18 Y si aun con estas cosas no me oyereis, yo volveré a castigaros siete veces más por vuestros pecados. 19 Y quebrantaré la soberbia de vuestro orgullo, y haré vuestro cielo como hierro, y vuestra tierra como bronce.

Esta lectura no es muy difícil de entender, pero no olvides leer todo el capítulo para que comprendamos el contexto de esta lección.
Este capítulo es muy emocionante porque nos muestra tres etapas que el pueblo de Israel iba a experimentar.
Primero, la bendición de Dios. Segundo, las consecuencias por haberse alejado del Señor. Y por último, el arrepentimiento por haberse apartado del Señor.
Es sorprendente la forma en que Dios les dio el plan divino para que fueran bendecidos y no sufrieran, pero lastimosamente todo este capítulo se cumplió en Israel, pues sufrieron exactamente lo que Dios ya les había advertido y, aún así, cometieron toda clase de injusticia y maldad.

Así como Dios fue claro con Israel y les profetizó todo lo que sucedería de acuerdo en la forma en que ellos se comportarían y vivirían delante de Dios, de la misma manera nosotros tenemos que vivir las mismas recompensas, consecuencias y tiempo de reconciliación.
Pienso que esas son las mismas etapas que nosotros como cristianos pasamos en nuestro caminar con Dios.

El Señor es preciso al explicar los niveles de degradación de acuerdo a la forma en que el pueblo de Israel quebrante la ley.
El propósito de las maldiciones que les vendrían por la rebeldía de Israel es para que ellos se arrepintieran y dejaran la arrogancia que creció en su corazón por la abundancia de las bendiciones, como dice el verso 19: "Quebrantaré la soberbia de su poderío..."
El Señor les da señales para que ellos puedan interpretar si Dios está con ellos o no, y si ellos están actuando bien o no; todo esto de acuerdo a su fidelidad o infidelidad.
Lo más hermoso es que el Señor también les extiende el camino y la puerta hacia la reconciliación y restauración.
Al final del capítulo, el Señor les enseña que pueden ser libres de esa maldición si ellos se humillan y reconocen al Señor como su único Dios.
La razón por la cual el Señor los perdonaría es porque Él es un Dios grande, justo y amoroso, que cumple sus promesas aunque su pueblo por mucho tiempo iba a fallarle.
Verso 44 dice: “Aun con todo esto, estando ellos en la tierra de sus enemigos, yo no los rechazaré ni los detestaré hasta consumirlos, invalidando mi pacto con ellos; porque yo, el SEÑOR, soy su Dios.”

Leviticus 26:1-19:
‘You shall not make idols for yourselves; neither a carved image nor a sacred pillar shall you rear up for yourselves; nor shall you set up an engraved stone in your land, to bow down to it; for I am the Lord your God. You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary: I am the Lord.
‘If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them, then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing; you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely. I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid; I will rid the land of evil beasts, and the sword will not go through your land. You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.
‘For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you. You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new. I will set My tabernacle among you, and My soul shall not abhor you. I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright.
‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.
‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.

This reading is not very difficult to understand, but do not forget to read the entire chapter so that we understand the context of this lesson.
This chapter is very exciting because it shows us three stages that the people of Israel were going to experience.
First, God's blessing. Second, the consequences for having turned away from the Lord. And by last, repentance for having departed from the Lord.
It is surprising how God gave them the divine plan so that they would be blessed and not suffer, but unfortunately this whole chapter was fulfilled in Israel, because they suffered exactly what God had already warned them about and, even so, they committed all kinds of injustice and evil.

Just as God was clear with Israel and prophesied everything that would happen according to the way they would behave and live before God, in the same way we have to live the same rewards, consequences and time of reconciliation.
I think those are the same stages that we as Christians go through in our walk with God.

The Lord is precise in explaining the levels of degradation according to the way in which the people of Israel break the law.
The purpose of the curses that would come to them because of Israel's rebellion is for them to repent and leave the arrogance that grew in their hearts because of the abundance of blessings, as verse 19 says: "I will break the pride of your power..."
The Lord gives them signs so that they can interpret whether God is with them or not, and whether they are acting well or not; all this according to their fidelity or infidelity.
The most beautiful thing is that the Lord also extends to them the path and the door to reconciliation and restoration.
At the end of the chapter, the Lord teaches them that they can be freed from this curse if they humble and acknowledge the Lord as their only God.
The reason why the Lord would forgive them is because He is a great, just and loving God, who keeps His promises even though His people were going to fail Him for a long time.
Verse 44 says: “Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor them, to utterly destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the Lord their God.”
