El: Η νύχτα είχε καλύψει την Αθήνα όταν ο Κώστας, ο Νίκος και η Μαρία καθόντουσαν σε ένα τραπεζάκι πέρα στην οδό Πατησίων κάτω από τη σκιά του ιστορικού τόξου της Αδριανού.
En: The night had covered Athens when Kostas, Nikos, and Maria were sitting at a small table across the street from Patision Street, under the shade of the historic arch of Hadrian.

El: Κολωνάκι, Πλάκα, Σύνταγμα, όλη η Αθήνα ήταν το δικό τους σαλόνι.
En: Kolonaki, Plaka, Syntagma, all of Athens was their own living room.

El: Ο Κώστας έκοψε τον γύρο του σε τέσσερα κομμάτια.
En: Kostas cut his gyro into four pieces.

El: Καθώς προσφέρθηκε να πάρει το πρώτο, το αδέξιο του χέρι έκανε το κομμάτι να κυλήσει στο δρόμο.
En: As he offered to take the first one, his clumsy hand made the piece roll onto the street.

El: Κι εκεί ήταν που το μπέρδεμα ξέσπασε.
En: And that's when the chaos erupted.

El: Πρωταγωνιστές ένα σωρό αδέσποτες γάτες, που με ανοιχτά μάτια και αναμμένες γαλαξίες τα κύτταζαν, έτοιμες να επιτεθούν.

En: After several minutes, Kostas returned with the food in his hand, his gyro, now somewhat dirty, but still his.

El: Η Μαρία, γελώντας ακόμα, πήρε τη σακούλα της, ανοίγοντας την για να πάρει κάποια από τις τσιχλες που κουβαλούσε.
En: Maria, still laughing, took her bag, opening it to take out some of the chewing gums she was carrying.

El: Την είχε πάντα μαζί της, ιδιαίτερα για στιγμές όπως αυτή.
En: She always had it with her, especially for moments like this.

El: Ο Νίκος πήρε τη σακούλα, ψάχνοντας για κάποιον να καθαρίσει το χέρι του Κώστα.
En: Nikos took the bag, looking for someone to clean Kostas's hand.

El: Οι γάτες, υποκλιθείς στην ήττα, επέστρεψαν στους δρόμους, αφήνοντας την ύστερη απόπειρά τους για τον γύρο του Κώστα κατά μέρος.
En: The cats, bowing down to defeat, returned to the streets, leaving their last attempt for Kostas's gyro behind.

El: Στο τέλος, τελείωσαν την νύχτα τους αφήνοντας το γεγονός να γίνει ένα από τα πολλά νοσταλγικά Αθηναϊκά ανέκδοτα που θα θυμούνταν και θα γελούσαν με αυτό για πάντα.
