Fathom Events, RiffTrax.com® and IGN are proud to announce the RiffTrax crew – Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett (best known for the groundbreaking “Mystery Science Theater 3000”) – are back again, this time to put the squeeze on audiences’ funny bones with their take on “Anaconda,” the 13th hilarious RiffTrax title shown by Fathom Events. “RiffTrax Live: Anaconda,” directed by Luis Llosa and written by Hans Bauer and Jim Cash & Jack Epps, Jr., will come to select movie theaters nationwide LIVE from the Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC, on Thursday, October 30 at 8:00pm ET / 7:00pm CT and 7:00pm MT / 8:00 pm PT/HI/AK (tape delay) with a second showing on Tuesday, November 4 at 7:30pm (local time).
Tickets for “RiffTrax Live: Anaconda” are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented in nearly 650 select movie theaters around the country through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).
"Anaconda is a great movie for us and hugely fun to do. It is, after all, indisputably the best digital snake movie of 1997,” Michael J. Nelson of RiffTrax said.
In “Anaconda,” a documentary film crew led by anthropologist Steven Cale (Eric Stoltz) and director Terri Flores (Jennifer Lopez) enters the mysterious world of the Amazon in search of the legendary Shirishama Indians. Cameraman Danny (Ice Cube) smells trouble when the crew picks up a suspicious passenger-Paul Sarone (Jon Voight), a charismatic loner and "river man" whose professed knowledge of the Shirishama entices the crew. But Sarone's motive for driving the crew deeper into the river is his own dark quest to track a lethal 40-foot Anaconda, and he'll sacrifice anything and anyone to find his adversary. The expedition becomes a jungle nightmare when Sarone leads the crew directly into the jaws of the killer snake and they must use every primal resource just to stay alive.
“The RiffTrax guys are absolute fan-favorites and downright hysterical,” said Dan Diamond, senior vice president of Fathom Events. “If anyone can take ‘Anaconda’ to another level in movie theaters it’s Mike, Kevin and Bill!”
