Michael G. “Mike” Ryan, MHA, FACHT, is Chairman of Executive Impact Group “EIG” (www.execimpactgroup.com) based in San Francisco and founded in 2002. Mike has 30 years’ experience in healthcare as executive leading international healthcare consulting firms, hospitals and healthcare technology companies.
During his career he has achieved numerous professional, business and organizational innovations. He has successfully lead the startup of more than 50 healthcare and technology companies guiding them from pre-revenue to stability and profitability leveraging his technical, business and organizational talents. At age 26 he was recruited by Florida’s Governor to successfully turnaround a bankrupt hospital and nursing home receiving a “Commendation” for his efforts. He has been an experienced and tested CEO for 20 years effectively managing public and private companies, organizations and ventures successfully.
Mike has served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Ryan Advisors, an international healthcare consulting company providing facility & strategic planning, contract management and executive search with offices in Washington, D.C., Jacksonville, Florida, Carmel, California, Singapore and Rome. The company served more than 2,200 clients in all 50 states domestically and in Germany, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Italy, Venezuela and China. Projects included building a 1,500-bed National Taiwan University Medical Center, the largest public project in Taiwan, Republic of China at the time.
During his hospital management career, he served as a hospital and health system CEO in Louisiana, Florida and DC. Mike was CEO of TransCare Health System providing contract management and consulting services to hospitals, which included serving as CEO of a start-up specialty hospital for five years. Mike served 17 years in senior management positions, as a protégé of Sister Irene Kraus (Healthcare Hall of Fame) founding CEO of the $20 billion Daughters of Charity National Health System, (now Ascension Health, www.ascensionhealth.com), the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in the U.S.: He was a CEO within $1.5 billion FMOL Health System; and CEO within $20 billion HealthTrust, a NYSE healthcare management company, (now HCA www.hcahealthcare.com).
Mike is board certified in healthcare management and became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives in 1995. He served as one of only nine members on its national CEO Committee. Additionally he served on the www.ache.org founding Editorial Board and elected ACHE National Council of Regents. He served ACHE Regent’s Advisory Council in and Bay Area Healthcare Executives and a founding board of directors and the California Association of Healthcare Leaders.
Mike received his MHA from, The School of Business & Management, The George Washington University www.gwu.edu, Washington, DC. He graduated with highest honors in three years with dual bachelor degrees in Communications/Marketing and Political Science/International Relations from Regis University www.regis.edu in Denver, Colorado. He is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the National Jesuit Honor Society and completed graduate studies at Georgetown University and served as a White House Intern www.whitehouse.gov in Washington, DC.
