Around two million residents of Houston, Texas, were left without power during a heatwave after Hurricane Beryl damaged transmission lines.Josh Vance stood at the gate of the Sunnyside Community Center in Houston, Texas, on July 12. This center is designated as a "cooling center" for residents after Hurricane Beryl caused power outages amidst the heatwave.According to the U.S. power outage tracking website poweroutage.us, Texas recorded seven deaths and two million customers, primarily in Houston, experiencing power outages due to fallen trees and utility poles affecting transmission lines. By July 12, power had been restored to half of those affected.
