To do so, they needed $10,000. To get the money, they decided they needed to rob houses in which wealthy inhabitants lived. They also wanted to kill said inhabitants, simply for the thrill of it. Their plan failed with Andrew Patti, so they tried the house of well-liked and renowned German professors at Dartmouth, Half and Suzanne Zantop.
