On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are looking at the extremes that some Christian take scripture to, and why it's such a dangerous position to hold. The tires on your car tell you to inflate them to 35 PSI, air is good and necessary for them to function. But what if you inflated them to, say, 70 PSI, or even higher? Well, at some point you would have a blowout of some kind. So it is with hyper-dispensationalism, Christians get off on the wrong exit and keep driving until they wind up in the ditch. Tonight we will examine if perhaps some of the doctrinal beliefs that you've been taught have made you a hyper-dispensationalist, however unwittingly. Rightly dividing and understanding that God wrote the Bible dispensationally is the bedrock of Bible study, and it is our hope that this study will help you to better understand the greatest Book ever written. The apostle Paul commands us to 'rightly divide' the scriptures, and it's a relatively simple concept to grasp. 1 Corinthians 10:32 (KJB) shows us that God can be speaking to, at any given time, the Jews and Israel, the unsaved Gentiles, or the born again redeemed Church of God. Rightly dividing and dispensationalism is understanding from a doctrinal position who God is addressing in any given passage, and what is being said. If God is giving a promise to the Jews, then that cannot be applied to the Church. If God is talking to the Church, then that cannot be doctrinally applied to the Gentiles, and on it goes. So what is hyper-dispensationalism? It is taking what God said, and pushing it to an extreme that God never intended.
