Thanks for this sad story. Among other things it has made me search for more about Harriet Hosmer's sculptures and Ovid's Heroides, which appears to include letters from many famous heroines from Mythology. As usual with Ancient texts, we mostly get the women's voices as imagined by a man. I don't know if female readers think Ovid gets the female point of view right, subject, of course, to possible cultural differences as to how women all those centuries ago would have thought.
