The long wait is over! The 2017 Major League Baseball season is upon us and we have a full slate of baseball news to get to this week.
Teams are still making last second moves and there were a litany of those this past week. The Los Angeles Dodgers resigned veteran second baseman Chase Utley to a 1 year deal. With the move for Logan Forsythe just 2 weeks ago, what does this mean for Chase Utley and the way he will be used by the Dodgers? Can he still be a starter?
Plus, the New York Yankees signed first baseman Chris Carter and everyone, it seems, is excited about this for New York but how good is it really? Do we think he could be the answer for the Yankees needs at first base?
Two new rule changes have been proposed to the Major League Baseball Player's Association: raising the strike zone and allowing managers to signal for an intentional walk rather than throwing 4 pitches. Plus, at the Rookie Ball level in Minor League Baseball, a new rule will be implemented and tested to help speed up extra inning games: starting the inning with a runner on 2nd base. Could this really work or does this make a travesty of the game? We take your reactions and debate whether or not it will be good for the game.
Finally, 2-time World Series champion Aubrey Huff stops by to talk about his new book "Baseball Junkie" and talk a little baseball.
All that and more this week on Out of Left Field.
