show moreEvery week, Chris and I have the privilege and enjoyment to talk about the game of baseball. It is a game that we both love and sharing that with you, our listeners, makes it even better. With that being said, this week's show is going to cover something vastly different from the world of sports. While Chris and I understand that sports is, for many, an escape from the daily dose of reality that we all see, there are also things that happen in our world today that spread well beyond the white lines on the baseball diamond.
On January 29, 2017, a shooting occurred at a mosque in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Regardless of your political or religious beliefs, this horrific act on people who were peacefully practicing their religion is heartbreaking. Over 1 Billion people in our world practice the religion of Islam and nearly every single one of those 1 Billion practice it peacefully. Today's show is not about religion or politics, but what it is about is respecting those who we may not share the same belief system as but still finding respect and love amongst each other as human beings.
Our good friend, Adnan Virk, has been a guest on and supporter of our show. He is a proud Muslim man who was born and raised in Canada and now calls the United States home as a prominent piece of the ESPN family of networks. Today, we allow him to tell us what it is like being a Muslim in the world today, raising a family in the world where so much hate and lack of understanding, surrounds his faith.
We are not here to preach religion or try to convert anyone. This show is simply for understanding. To shed light on the feelings of a multitude of people through the eyes of one man and, hopefully, open the eyes of others and bring more understanding to our world today as we continue to learn to respect each other and live together.
