Scripture:

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV)

Message:

Life is full of distractions that can pull us away from our relationship with God—busyness, worries, temptations, and even good things that take priority over Him. Hebrews 12:1-2 reminds us that to run this spiritual race effectively, we must lay aside every weight and sin that slows us down and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

Distractions are not always sinful; they can be anything that hinders our growth in Christ. Social media, work, entertainment, or even relationships can become obstacles if they take more of our attention than our walk with God. The key to overcoming distractions is to stay focused on Jesus—the One who started our faith and will bring it to completion.

Like a runner in a race, we must have a clear goal. Fixing our eyes on Jesus means prioritizing prayer, studying His Word, and seeking His guidance daily. It means saying no to things that pull us away from His presence and yes to a life of deeper commitment.

Today, ask yourself: What distractions are keeping me from fully pursuing God? How can I refocus my heart and mind on Jesus? What practical steps can I take to remove spiritual hindrances from my life?

Prayer:

Almighty Father, I confess that distractions often pull me away from You. Help me to recognize and remove anything that hinders my walk with You. Teach me to fix my eyes on Jesus and run this race with endurance. Strengthen me to stay faithful and focused on Your purpose for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
