On today’s show, your hosts welcome Sondra Wollenman in studio to talk about Palliative Care.  Sondra is a Nurse Practitioner at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.  They discuss the difference between palliative care and hospice care.  Palliative is where a patient receives treatment for a chronic illness while also getting support for their family.  The individualized care helps the patient make educated decisions while they continue to live their lives.  Hospice care occurs when a patient has utilized most or all medical options. The focus is to keep the patient comfortable.
