Story Transcript:

Hu: Budapest forgatagában, a Margit híd közepén, Eszter, Gergő és Zsolt találkozott.
En: In the hustle and bustle of Budapest, on the middle of Margaret Bridge, Eszter, Gergő, and Zsolt met.

Hu: A három barát az iskolai szünet idején döntött úgy, hogy felkeresi egymást a fővárosban.
En: The three friends decided during their school break to visit each other in the capital.

Hu: Eszter a vidékről érkezett fel, Gergő a margitszigeti futópályán próbált feledni néhány rossz emléket, Zsolt pedig egy nyelviskola tanára volt, ahol külföldieknek tanított magyar nyelvet.
En: Eszter came up from the countryside, Gergő tried to forget some bad memories on the running track at Margaret Island, and Zsolt was a teacher at a language school, where he taught Hungarian to foreigners.

Hu: Az őszi szellő végigsuhant a Dunán, a levelek zizegése és a város zsongása különösen érdekes atmoszférát adott a találkozónak.
En: The autumn breeze swept along the Danube, the rustling of the leaves and the buzz of the city gave the meeting a particularly interesting atmosphere.

Hu: Eszter már előre izgult, hogy milyen lesz a találkozó.
En: Eszter was already nervous about how the meeting would go.

Hu: Elvégre, barátai és a ő sosem voltak szavak emberei, az érzéseiket inkább a tetteikkel fejezték ki.
En: After all, her friends and she were not people of many words, they expressed their feelings more through their actions.

Hu: "Gergő, Zsolt!
En: "Gergő, Zsolt!

Hu: Azért hívtalak benneteket, hogy megpróbáljuk elmagyarázni a külföldi diákoknak, miről is szól a palacsinta szó," mondta Eszter, miközben átadott nekik egy-egy darabot a tipikus, magyarosan töltött palacsintából.
En: I called you here to try to explain to the foreign students what the word 'palacsinta' is all about," Eszter said as she handed them each a piece of the typical, Hungarian-style filled pancake.

Hu: Ekkor azonban felmerült egy probléma: melyik palacsinta számít a "valódi" palacsintának?
En: However, a problem arose: which pancake could be considered the "real" pancake?

Hu: Gergő azt állította, hogy a hortobágyi palacsinta a legigazibb, amely csirkehúsos raguval van töltve, és sós-szaftos.
En: Gergő claimed that the Hortobágy pancake was the most authentic, filled with chicken stew and savory gravy.

Hu: Zsolt viszont ragaszkodott hozzá, hogy a Gundel palacsinta, amely dióval és csokoládé öntettel van tálalva, az igazi főszereplője a magyar konyhának.
En: On the other hand, Zsolt insisted that the Gundel pancake, served with walnuts and chocolate sauce, was the true star of Hungarian cuisine.

Hu: Eszter azonban a hagyományos, túróval és lekvárral töltött verzió mellett tette le a voksát.
En: Eszter, however, stood by the traditional version filled with cottage cheese and jam.

Hu: A vita folytatódott naplementéig, majd ahogy a vörös fények beborították a várost, megnyugodtak, és egyszerre csillant fel a szemükben a megoldás.
En: The debate continued until sunset, and as the red lights covered the city, they calmed down, and a solution suddenly appeared in their eyes.

Hu: Felismerték, hogy a palacsinta nem csak egy édesség vagy egy étel.
En: They realized that pancakes were not just a dessert or a dish.

Hu: Sokkal több annál.
En: It was much more.

Hu: Egyszerre jelent szabadságot, kreativitást és végül, de nem utolsósorban, a család és a barátok körül töltött minőségi időt.

Hu: Ez a felismerés erősebb kötelékké forrasztotta őket, mint bármi más.

Hu: Megértették, hogy a külföldieknek nem magát a palacsintát kell bemutatniuk, hanem mindazt, amit jelképez: a hagyományok őrzését, a változatosságot és a szívet, amit a készítés során bele tudnak tenni.
En: They understood that they didn't have to introduce the pancake itself to the foreigners, but everything it symbolized: the preservation of traditions, diversity, and the heart that they could put into making it.

En: On that day, on Margaret Bridge in the heart of Budapest, the three friends learned much more about Hungarian culture and traditions than they had ever thought possible.

Hu: A végén pedig megállapodtak egy dologban: az igazi palacsinta az, amit szeretettel készítünk, legyen az bármilyen ízesítésű is.
En: In the end, they agreed on one thing: the real pancake is the one made with love, no matter what flavor it is.

Hu: Ezzel a megoldással haza indultak, s már izgatottan várták a következő napot, amikor bemutathatják a külföldi diákoknak mindazt, amit a palacsintáról tudni lehet.
En: With this solution in mind, they headed home, eagerly awaiting the next day when they could introduce to the foreign students all they could know about the pancake.
