Paradoxes of Gender Podcasts:
The Paradoxes of Gender Podcasts are Designed to Deliver Professional Development Educational Programs for the LGBTQ+ Medical & Behavioral Healthcare Providers who provide Medical & Behavioral Healthcare Services to Transgender, Gender Diverse, Gender Non-Conforming, Gender Incongruent and Non-Binary Individuals.
Prepared & Presented by: Dr. Diana Sorrentino, Ph.D.
Social-Psychologist & Behavioral Analyst
Delivering comprehensive Medical or Behavioral Healthcare Services as a component of your practice on behalf of Transgender (TG), Gender Diverse (GD) Individuals and members of the LGBTQ+ Community may at times prove to be a little challenging. The challenges you may experience have historically been caused by a lack of specialized medical or behavioral health training you received in preparation for your career and the care you will be providing for Transgender and Gender Diverse patients. This understanding was underscored and reinforced by a 2011 study, reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association, the medical schools, on average, only provide Five (5) hours of academic or clinical instruction on LGBTQ+ healthcare requirements. In the absence of specialized training; time is required to acquire first-hand real-world knowledge and experience with the diverse challenges, needs and experiences these individuals present and what they are confronted with as they live their lives in their Self-Attributed Non-Conforming Gender roles.
Transgender, Gender Diverse, Gender Non-Conforming, Gender Incongruent & Non-Binary individuals, their families, friends, schools, employers and social-networks will also benefit from the content of these Podcasts in-spite of the fact that the detailed medical and psychological content of these programs focuses on the continuing educational needs and requirements of the medical or behavioral healthcare professional. Knowledge is essential to counteract the negative publicity and the political hyperbole disseminated by individuals with no understanding of the history and underlying biological factors influencing gender non-conformity.
