On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Luke from Defect live from the Bloodstock Festival in Derbyshire, UK.

The guys bond over how awesome it is to be playing Bloodstock in such fine weather, as Pipeman talks about the Welcome to Rockville festival which was a few months ago, which had 5 evacuations due to the weather.

Talking about the sound of the band, Luke makes it clear they don’t pigeonhole themselves to a genre. He explains they’re a metal band which draws influences from everything that everyone in the band likes, and they fuse it all together. You can expect to head big ambient sections, big choruses and heavy riffs.

Pipeman asks what was the moment in Luke’s life which made him decide he wanted to pursue a music career. He talks about a moment when he was 6 his dad gave him Appetite For Destruction by Guns N’ Roses and from that point on it has been his whole life.

The guys move into a discussion about the history of metal and how the strictness of what you liked and what you could listen to nearly killed the genre, but crossovers and more acceptance has brought it back to being alive and well.
