Widely regarded as among the Top 10 guitarists in the world, Australian guitar extraordinaire Plini is preparing to release his second studio album Impulse Voices on November 27.


During the week he sat down with HEAVY to discuss the album.


"It’s got a lot of different things going on,” Plini smiled. “I tried to put as much as I can into every release that I do - which is not necessarily always a good thing (laughs) - but in this case, I think I've covered more different ground than I have before but I'm really happy with how it turned out and I hope people like it."


When pressed on exactly what the different ground is, Plini elaborated more.


"I guess over the last few years I've expanded out of listening to the rock and metal stuff that I grew up loving into more electronic and jazz and soundtrack sort of stuff, so there's elements of all of that coming through in some parts.”


In the full interview, Plini discusses recording the album, being a DIY artist, naming his songs with no lyrics to relate to, the writing process for an instrumental artist as opposed to a band with a vocalist, the possibility of him using vocals in the future, playing Download U.K, instructing with Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Devin Townsend and more.
