“We call on partners and organizations working in Haiti to urgently reinforce the response to COVID-19,” Dr. Etienne said at her weekly media briefing. “The country will need additional health capacity, as well as support to embrace preventive measures required to curb transmission. Both will be decisive in the coming weeks. There is no time to waste.

He also addresses the discovery of the buried remains of 215 children at the former site of the Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia. He is joined virtually by Small Business Minister Mary Ng, Parliamentary Black Caucus Chair Greg Fergus, Liberal MPs Marci Ien and Emmanuel Dubourg, as well as Tiffany Callender (CEO of the Federation of African Canadian Economics); Michael Denham (president and CEO of the Business Development Bank of Canada); Christine Bergeron (president and CEO of Vancity); and Robert Paterson (president and CEO of Alterna Savings). World Health Assembly adopted more than 30 resolutions and decisions on diabetes, disabilities, ending violence against children, eye care, HIV, hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections, local production of medicines, malaria, neglected tropical diseases, noncommunicable diseases, nursing and midwifery, oral health, social determinants of health and strategic directions for the health and care workforce.
