The provided article by Greg Twemlow introduces the concept of the "Problem Definition Architect Era" (PDAE), positing it as a revolutionary shift in custom software development. This era sees artificial intelligence capable of instantaneously conjuring applications, moving beyond the traditional build-and-maintain model. The author argues that the role of a "Prompt Engineer" has become obsolete, as AI now masters its own prompting. Instead, human value is elevated to that of a "Problem Definition Architect," a role focused on precisely, ethically, and imaginatively defining problems for AI to solve. The article highlights the importance of deep domain expertise, critical thinking, precise communication, empathy, ethical considerations, and creative vision as core competencies for this new architectural role, moving human involvement from merely commanding AI to defining the underlying "what" and "why."
