22 years ago, the Purple Room was born in the living room of Sam’s home, while her son, Alex, sat in a pint-sized purple chair sharing his feelings.

Arising from her desire to create a different future that had him feel comfortable validating his own complex experience, speaking his feelings with ease, and expressing his truth without fear or shame, the two of them embarked on a journey of a lifetime.

The Purple Room provided a place to share vulnerability, and ask the question, “What’s really going on for me,” inside of a space where they could appreciate, acknowledge, empathize with, and celebrate what it means to be human. And ultimately, create an extraordinary bond between mother and son.

Listening to Purple Room stories, you’ll gain insight into how to host Purple Room conversations of your own, whether they happen in your beige living room with a loved one or a corner booth with your longtime BFF.
