This week, on The Parents' Solution, I had the opportunity to have a heartfelt discussion with Rob Spehar. He is the founder of the Spehar Initiative and homeschools his children with his wife, Leah. Rob and his wife decided to begin homeschooling their children after experiencing unsatisfactory results at a Montessori school. When COVID hit, they transitioned into full homeschool mode. Spehar says that he sees the benefits of homeschooling daily, as his children are excelling. Not only are his children learning academics, but they are also developing emotional health, intellectual wellbeing, physical prosperity, and life skills.
At the end of the day, the education your child receives should set them up to be future leaders, not future followers. In this day and age, the practice of thinking for oneself is critical. We see the danger of blindly following the masses: there is panic, destruction, and confusion. Change can happen when confident children are able to stand by their principles and make solid decisions by asking and dealing with the hard questions. Students who are thinkers - what a thing! Those are the people who change the world for the better.
