Mark Levin's 'Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto' sat at the top of the New York Times bestseller list for weeks in the late aughts. It can be considered a definitive explanation of Obama-era conservatism: hints of neoconservative thought, skepticism of climate change, full-throated support for capitalism and global free trade, dedication to Abrahamic faith, and Constitutional fidelity and federalism.

In this episode I examine the ways in which Levin's boilerplate conservatism differs from a neofusionist perspective. Neofusionism embraces the paleoconservative revolt against free-trade and the naturalistic rejection of faith-based governing and embrace of environmental concerns. This episode provides a jumping off point for an exploration of what makes neofusionism a distinct branch of Republicanism. It is related to mainstream conservatism, but it is not the same.
