show more“I woke up this morning and found my roommate dead.”
Typically, when I ask a passenger how the day is so far, I don’t get that kind of response. Alvin is staying at the Salvation Army for a while. Alvin said, “When we turned the lights on he was blue,” The poor guy passed away in his sleep. He was only 59 and his kids would never come see him.
I can remember thinking 59 was old when I was in my twenties. As I approach 48 it seems terribly young and tragic to me. The poor guy had evidently lost everything and passed on in his bed with no goodbyes or an I love you.
I’m not entirely sure what the take away from this story would be. Maybe it’s a sign to just be nice to people and smile when I get a chance. Could be the last thing that stranger sees. It’s something I can do without spending a dime and it could make a small impact.
I guess it’s easy to take love for granted sometimes... well until people stop saying it.
Here’s to Working On Being Awesome!
Oh, I took Alvin apartment hunting. I hope he finds a nice place.
