show moreThe news of the day: This week we have been working on abdominals and trying to blend our work with the concept of ease. Ease meaning that we are allowing the musculature to relax rather than forcing it into a constant contracted state. Somehow, we all got the memo we are supposed to suck in our gut. That constant contracted state compromises our ability to breathe properly. Developing abdominal strength is important just as it is throughout the rest of our body. If the muscles throughout our body are not working in harmony . . . are not strengthened to the same degree, there is going to being pulling and tugging that can cause imbalances which can actually separate the abdominal muscles. Remember, we shared earlier this week, by design, most of the actions throughout our body directly impact the abdominals. Most often the cause of the imbalance is generated from moving too little or moving too much; but it can be also come from pregnancy or intra-abdominal fat. Of those three, the easiest to resolve might be the last . . . intra-abdominal fat. Ok, so we have been here before. What and how you eat is key to developing a flatter midsection. It may not fix it; but it can begin the process. Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing ways to burn more fat and, yes, it can be done with the holidays upon us. Two simple suggestions for today . . . try to drink only water (or at least increase your water intake) and increase your protein. It’s hard to eat too much protein and it fills you up quickly and helps burn more calories.
