The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit (Public Days Jan. 16 - 24) is one of the most anticipated automotive showcases in the world with upwards of 5,000 credentialedglobal media members expected for press preview days, January 11 and 12, at Cobo Hall. According to the NAIAS website, for 2016 more than 750 vehicles will be on display, including more than 40 worldwide and North American vehicle reveals. More than 800,000 visitors are expected to attend the show's public days, according to the NAIAS website.
The Chevrolet brand is in the midst of a significant product and business transformation in the U.S. and around the globe. Every one of the brand's new products will offer consumers expressive designs, world-class safety and performance, and advanced technologies such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which will be available in 14 new Chevrolet models. On Monday, January 11 at 8:05 am ET at NAIAS, Chevrolet will showcase the newest electric vehicle the Bolt EV (embargoed) and the all-new Cruze Hatch (embargoed). On the performance front, the 2016 sixth generation Camaro will be sure to turn heads at the show!
The Buick brand will also have a strong showing in Detroit. On the evening of January 10, the day before the official press days at NAIAS begin, Buick will show exciting new products that will continue to shift perceptions of the brand and delight discerning customers. Through a transformational product portfolio, creative marketing and outstanding retail partners, Buick has recorded five years of consecutive sales growth in the U.S. Products like the segment-leading Encore continue to draw new consumers into Buick showrooms, while the pending 2017 LaCrosse, Cascada convertible and the Buick Envision luxury crossover are generating buzz and excitement. On the global stage, Buick continues to grow at a record setting pace. Buick has set all-time global sales records the past three years, including a new record again in 2015.
On Tuesday, January 12, at 9:05 AM ET, GMC will launch the newest addition to its Professional Grade lineup. With a focus on premium design and innovative safety and technology features, it's clear that GMC is designing trucks and SUVs with the customer in mind. Product momentum continues at GMC, which offers a truck for every customer want or need: midsize, light-duty, heavy-duty and SUV. Including, the all-new luxury-focused 2017 Canyon Denali, which debuted recently at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The North American Car and Truck of the Year Awards (NACTOY) will be awarded during a press conference from NAIAS on January 11. This year the Chevrolet Malibu is up for the car of the year award. The other finalists include the Honda Civic and the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
General Motors is a global leader in connected vehicle ecosystems, as the future of mobility is the convergence of transportation and connectivity. To that end, GM is re-imagining how its vehicles fit within an environment to efficiently move people. GM executives can share current and future visions of the connected car. Several of GM's top leaders in Urban Mobility and Connectivity will be available for interviews from NAIAS.
