Saturday mornings in Amsterdam will never be the same. From 24 August 2019, Amsterdam Kitchen live radio show will broadcast weekly from 10:00-12:00 bringing you local food stories, live guests, restaurant, bar and café reviews and great music to go with your weekend brunchtime. Your hosts are CathyCentral and Geli Carney (@DamKitchens).
The pilot show featured an interview with José Mendoza, co-owner of Capricho Café, where we quizzed him on their approach to setting up a neighbourhood restaurant in Amsterdam - without going bust. We shared reviews of two Amsterdam restaurants, Plantage and Breda (quite an epic story for that one, including spilled wine, several mini carrots, "morning urine" and something called a pre-dessert - check out the pics in the podcast notes!). Our 'In Season' segment discussed the oysters of Zeeland and the 'Winkelwagon' segment gave listeners the heads up on a current deal on organic blueberrys at the Ekoplaza. We had a special feature on the new Amsterdam Cooking Club meetups, and a very enthusiastic report on Bossche bollen cream cakes from Joe Montagna of Fat Kids Corner. Geli picked out a great rosé for our 'Drinkables' spot. We didn't even get time for the 'Eat My Dutch' and 'Five food faves' features we prepared so we'll introduce them in next week's show.
