Story Transcript:

En: In Oslo, a city full of life and light, there is a man named Lars. One day, in the middle of rush hour, Lars decided to put on his skis.

En: Lars lives in a bright apartment in Grünerløkka. In his apartment hangs a calendar full of memories. Friday, November 6th is circled in red. "Ski day," it says. This is the day Lars has decided to ski down the streets of Oslo.

Nb: Sola skinner over Akerselvas bredder. Lars tar fram skiene.
En: The sun shines over the banks of the Akerselva river. Lars takes out his skis. He checks the bindings, applies ski wax, and fastens his boots. Then he takes the elevator down.

Folk stopper opp.
En: Grünerløkka is full of people. It's lunchtime and Oslo is bustling. Lars puts his skis on the ground. People stop and look. They scan for ski tracks, but see none. They only see Lars, ready for a ski trip.

En: "Must be a promotion," says a man with a hat. "For a ski clothing brand, perhaps?"

Nb: Lars smiler, men sier ingenting. Han dytter fra med staven. Skiene sklir over asfalt. Det er en snodig lyd. Publikumet hans smiler. Noen ler. Alle er forvirret.
En: Lars smiles, but says nothing. He pushes off with his poles. The skis glide over the asphalt. It makes a peculiar sound. His audience smiles. Some laugh. Everyone is confused.

En: Lars turns down Thorvald Meyers gate, passes the park, and picks up speed towards the city center. Everyone he encounters is confused, yet entertained. Oslo is not known for its skiing culture in the middle of the city, but Lars is breaking all norms.

Nb: Han kommer til Stortinget. Politikere i mørke dresser stopper samtalen og løfter øyenbrynene. Men Lars bare vinker og fortsetter.
En: He reaches the Stortinget. Politicians in dark suits pause their conversations and raise their eyebrows. But Lars just waves and continues on.

Nb: Nedover Karl Johans gate går det unna. Folk stopper opp, tar fram mobilen.
En: Down Karl Johans gate, he goes fast. People stop and take out their phones. "Look at him," they laugh. "He's skiing!" They share clips on Instagram and everyone sees Lars in full speed, with the palace in the background.

A man from TV2 catches up with him near the National Theatre. "Why do you ski, Lars?" he asks.

Nb: "Ski gjør meg glad," svarer Lars. "Og jeg ville dele gleden med Oslo."
En: "Skiing makes me happy," Lars replies. "And I wanted to share the joy with Oslo."

Nb: Det blir omtalt i alle medier. "Skiproffen Lars" blir hans nye kallenavn.
En: It becomes covered in all media. "Ski Pro Lars" becomes his new nickname. Lars has created excitement and commotion in Oslo. His unconventional winter activity in the city has put a smile on people's faces.

En: After a long day of skiing, Lars comes home. He has a feeling of having done something special. Not just for himself, but for his beloved city as a whole. He has created something unexpected, something fun, something unique. "Ski Pro Lars" has made his mark on Oslo.
