This game marked the end of two of West Virginia’s most successful girl’s basketball players, Renee Montgomery and Alexis Hornbuckle. The South Charleston state title victory also gave the Black Eagles back-to-back championships.
South Charleston also became the seventh school in Class AAA girl’s history to win back-to-back titles. The victory gave Hornbuckle her fourth consecutive state title - two with Capital and two with the Black Eagles.
So. Charleston won by a final of 59-39.
