This is the fifth episode of The Ship Pod. I was lucky enough to be joined by Tom, who writes a blog called Steam at Sea ( https://steamatsea.wordpress.com ) that is well worth a look. We are going to talk about the French Line’s ss Paris. Neither of us know a great deal about her but we felt that she is often forgotten in liner history and that this would be a nice opportunity to remember her. The ss Paris was known for her interiors and was a prime of example of Art Nouveau, something of a precursor to Art Deco that would be established in the following decade after Paris’s construction. Because of this, the Paris is a visual bridge between two eras. She had left behind the Titanic, Lusitania Edwardian style that many people are today aware of and ventured into a new stylistic era that by the late 1920s would be what we recognize as Art Deco today.

A big thank you to Yumione Skybedz for the concept behind the thumbnail, he has an Instagram that is also very interesting ( https://instagram.com/orange.men.line.ocean.liners?igshid=11is5m5jn6o3r ).
