Lady Ray is a proud Bay Area native and UC Berkeley (CAL) Alum who has been part of the radio industry for over a decade. Lady Ray's dream of being in the radio industry began as a young girl when she and her cousins created their own radio station using an old tape deck and mics. They recorded breaks and even played special requests for their "listeners." As a CAL student, Lady Ray co-hosted the afternoon news at the KAL-X campus radio station. During her junior year of college, she got her start at KMEL as an intern, and 7 months later, she was hired in promotions and then went on to produce the Morning Show, where she's been ever since. As a part of the Sana G Morning Show, you can catch her Monday-Friday, 6 am-10 am, giving you the traffic to get you where you need to be! Then, wake up with Lady Ray Saturdays, 8 am-11 am, to get what's new on KMEL and in the streets.

With over 25 years of experience in image consulting and public relations, Armstrong also teaches in the Fashion Department at City College of San Francisco. Moreover, she is the founder of the Primed & Prepped: A Hospitality Management/Culinary Arts Mentoring and Job Training Program at the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA. The program aims to help mitigate the barriers to employment for young males and females of color. She is also a former Board of Governors with the Recording Academy (Grammys).
