SO B. IT is the film adaptation of the New York Times bestselling young adult novel of the same name. Written by Sarah Weeks, the book is beloved in schools across the country and continues to be part of their curriculums.
For as long as Heidi (Talitha Bateman) can remember, her mother has had only 22 words in her vocabulary. And that’s fine with the precocious 12 year-old. She and Mama live happily, in the bubble of love and protection provided by their remarkable neighbor, the nurturing but agoraphobic Bernadette. Then one day a new word pops out of Mama’s mouth – the mysterious “soof” – and it changes everything. Heidi is propelled on a solo cross-country journey of discovery and loss, truth and identity. Secrets boil to the surface, long-hidden fears are faced, and Heidi finally learns who she is and where she and her childlike Mama came from.
Directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal, SO B. IT also stars Academy Award® Nominee Alfre Woodard (Luke Cage, 12 YEARS A SLAVE), John Heard (HOME ALONE, BIG), Jessica Collins (ZERO DARK THIRTY), Jacinda Barrett (Bloodline), Dash Mihok (SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK), and the incomporable Cloris Leachman (American Gods).
Bateman will also play ‘Hannah’ in the new film Geostorm, which stars Gerard Butler, Abbie Cornish and Daniel Wu. The film will hit theaters on October 20th. She recently joined the cast of Simon VS. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, based on the popular young adult novel. She will play ’Noah Spier’ alongside Nick Robinson, Jennifer Garner and Alexandra Shipp. Additionally, Talitha is voicing a character in The Boxcar Children film alongside J.K. Simmons, Dane DeHaan and Martin Sheen and stars in Vengeance: A Love Story opposite Nicholas Cage, released in the UK on VOD.
