Hello! I’m Gail Nobles, and you’re listening to Indie Sights. The film I’m going to talk to you about today is titled “ The Championship Rounds”. It is a story about a talented young, and deaf African American boxer who raises his six month old son as a single father. His name is James Deacon Jr. He is a deaf son of a once- promising boxer whose life was messed up by drugs and alcohol. James appeared to have some hurt and anger inside of him about his father and wife who was pregnant. He did everything he could to support his wife. Then a tragedy left him alone to raise his son.
James had boxing skills that he inherited from his father. He met a trainer and former rival of his father. James made a decision to step into the ring to become champion his father never got a chance to be.
To me, this is a good short film because it shows that no matter what, you have to keep on moving and keep on fighting. You have to live your dreams and never let them go.
The film was directed by Daniel Stine. Written by M.D. Walton & Daniel Stine. Produced by M.D. Walton. You can watch the film on YouTube. Just look for the title The Championship Rounds.
